It was a sold out event as our annual fundraiser Celebrated Diversity with members of the club, supporters and leaders in our community, and all of our local candidates for the 2018 election. It was an honor to recognize Supervisor of Elections, Gertrude Walker, for all her years of dedication and service to our community. We had some amazing speakers in Nicole Haagenson, Candidate for State Representative District 54, Ghazala Salam, Founder of the American Muslim Democratic Caucus of FL, and Rev. William Gill, Unity Minister. We are so grateful to everyone who attended, contributed, and volunteered. Thank you so much for all of your efforts to support us and Democrats in our community! |
Why We're Celebrating:
Unlike many nations, who define themselves by such things as a common ethnicity or creed, in America we are instead united by our common values. Values such as freedom of expression and equal protection under the law, enshrined in our Constitution, are what makes it possible for everyone, whatever their skin color, whatever they believe, to be an American.
Diversity is America’s greatest strength, and always has been.
Our strength is being tested. It’s more important now than ever to unite in not only respecting our collective diversity, but to celebrate it! We affirmatively reject those who would divide us — our diversity will unite us with love and mutual respect. We reject those who want to build walls —we will build bridges, and move forward together.
Please join us for a special evening featuring diverse and inspiring speakers!
“Ultimately, America’s answer to the intolerant man is diversity.”
