PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP
Date: 09/14/2019
Time: 11:00 AM Place: First United Methodist Church 616 Orange Ave Fort Pierce, FL 34950 The Democratic Women’s Club of St. Lucie County kicked off Hispanic Heritage month by sponsoring an Immigration Application for Citizenship event for Latinx on September 14, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce. Theresa Bramble, chapter Regional Representative, organized the event. While the immigration application process began at 11 a.m., 21 DWC members attended an hour-long workshop beforehand on How to Complete the Immigration Application for Citizenship. Attorney Ingrid Morfa, an expert in immigration law, co-sponsored the workshop and event. Fourteen Latinx successfully completed the complicated 20-page application. All 14 are expected to become citizens within three to six months. Applications are only submitted to immigration if the attorney is certain they will be approved. This first event was such a big success that St. Lucie County DWC plans to hold this special event on a semi-annual basis. The next event will be held in March 2020, and they are planning to repeat the workshop training and do significantly more applications to get more Latinx approved for citizenship before the 2020 elections. |

Donald Trump's abuses of our communities and country demand action from Congress, which has the responsibility and authority to hold Trump accountable. It's time for the House to begin impeachment so we can have the full, public inquiry that we deserve. We will explore what impeachment means, the grounds for it, why Congress must act, and what the process looks like. Then we will take action by contacting Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Nadler, and other congressional representatives to demand an immediate impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump. Special Guest Speaker (via Skype) - Pam Keith! |

Tax ProtestLocation: Marco Rubio's Office
Date: November 27, 2017 Democratic Women of St. Lucie County joined groups from Martin and Palm Beach counties to protest the tax plan passed through the house and up for a senate vote. Rubio supports this tax plan, a "huge tax cut" for the ultra-rich. Donald trump calls this a HUGE beautiful Christmas present. It will be the unfortunate gift that keeps on giving to future generations, as it will blow up our debt by estimates of 1 to 2 trillion dollars. Where are the jobs and infrastructure promised by the Republicans? Even conservatives estimate that this tax bill, if passed, will only contribute growth of 1/8th of 1% to our GDP! Democratic Women's Club of SLC displayed the Heather Heyer banner from the Los Angeles Women's March. We stand up proudly for democracy, human rights and American values. |
